Cloth Wipes

Cloth wipes are a natural component to cloth diapers - and surprise! There are just as many ways to save or spend money on cloth wipes as there are diapers :)

Here is how I do it - please comment on what you do, I love to hear different ideas :)

My favorite method is using Monkey Butt Soap Bits. She is a WAHM, super sweet and sells on DiaperSwappers.com

She makes them in so many yummy scents - which is why I get them. They are super affordable and buying these definitely saves you money over disposable wipes.

I melt 2 bits (you can use 1) in a cup of water in the microwave then pour over my wipes in a wipes container. Easy peasy! With my little boy 2 bits lasts me 3 days - and my wipes don't even smell musty this whole time because of the ingredients.

I store them in this Huggies container - other mamas use wipes warmers too. I want one and have asked for one for a long time :)

For wipes I just take 2 pieces of flannel and zig zag the edges with my sewing machine. Easy!

OTHER IDEAS::::

Dilute baby wash in a container with water. Then you can just dump a dry rag in the container at diaper changing time.

Put the solution in a pump bottle and pump onto a dry wipe.

I don't have one, but you could put your solution in a peri bottle (like what they give you in the hospital after birth)

Adding baby oil to the baby wash keeps your baby's skin smoother
If you want to keep your home made solution in the form of wet wipes ready to use, you might want to add a teeny bit of TTO to your solution so your wet wipes don't start smelling musty after a day, or just make a new solution every morning!

Of course keeping only dry wipes on hand solves that problem too.

What do you do? I'd love to hear responses!

1 7th Gen disposable wipes container (empty)
1tsp Burt's Bees baby wash
1tbsp coconut oil
few drops lavender essential oil

Put wash and oil into container, fill 3/4 way with warm water, and cram as many wipes in there as you can, making sure they're saturated. I spend literally NO extra money on this, as I wash the kiddos with the Burt's Bees and use the oils in cooking and cleaning. I use terry wipes, on my 4 month old and my 2 year old, no rashies, and the poo slides right off with this mix! Wipes last about 2 days, no mustiness.

I use bits and melt 1 bit per cup of water. I keep my solution in a squirt bottle (peri bottle) and just wet 1/2 of a wipe, wipe the bum, and then dry the bum with the dry side. Works great and no need to worry about musty wipes!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

thank you for this. I have been slacking on my cloth wipes and I'm about out of disposable ones and I really don't want to buy more!

This has motivated me to start using cloth again! So much easier/better/cheaper!!

Ah, does this mean you won't be doing "Fluff Talk Thursday" this week? This was this coming thursdays assignment. :-(

By the way~ I see you got your blog into 3 columns. Did you have any trouble? Looks good!

I'll link to this post - I just did it early LOL

I actually didn't see the assignment (I didn't look close enough at your post) and wrote this for a friend that was considering cloth wipes. Great timing though!

I'll put the Fluff Talk thursdays button on here this week, no worries!

Thanks again for participating Annie! Do you also fold your wipes overlapping so that they "pop up"? Makes it so much easier with a squirmy baby. :-)

Oh, and I am SO glad you are excited about next week's assignment. I am too. A little scared to see what my husband will write though. lol.

Do you have any ideas on how I can get the word out about this next 2 weeks FTT??? It will be so funny, but only if I get a big response.

Have a great rest of your week! :-)

Annie- That would be great! You can link them to this weeks FTT post so that they can read the directions or copy what I wrote and paste it into your announcement. I am a member of Diaper Swappers, but can't figure out how to do anything on there for the life of me!

I will make the announcement on the Cloth Diapering Bloggers community as I do know how navigate that site. lol. I actually was planning on doing that.

Thanks so much for the help...I REALLY appreciate it. I don't even care if these women ever participate again...I just think it will be so much fun for the next two weeks. Of course, I would love it if they do!

Can't wait to hear what your husband has to say!!!

Oh, I just realized that you wrote "the cloth diaper blog ning" not cloth diapering bloggers community! Oops...yes, go ahead and post it on that if you would...I don't know if I could figure that out either. :-)

You should join the cloth diapering bloggers community though, I know you would enjoy it. :-)
