I know I am not alone in this...

...actually my problem is one of the most common one mothers (and fathers) face.

Bedtime.

Yikes.

I know I am not fighting this fight alone. MckMama just blogged about this same problem and got 755 responses. That's a lot of kids fighting bedtime and a lot of mamas feeling my pain.

I care so deeply for Lizzie - always have. I don't want to rush her development one bit, but I do wish she'd just learn to self soothe already!

She is 2 years old. She has slept in our bed since she was a newborn. At first this facilitated breastfeeding and helped me get the rest I needed as she woke up 4 times a night. Yup, she has never ever slept well. This girl can fight sleep just as well as I fight going on a roller coaster. If she doesn't want to she won't. Period.

Where is my peace? Is it any wonder I loose my mind when Josh finally comes home at 10pm?
There are days where she refuses to nap (but I put on a movie so I can have some quiet time) and won't sleep till 11:00pm.

Holy Cow am I a headcase by then.

I think what is making it worse is our stress. Josh and I are both super stressed right now...money...economy stinks major...it is a lot for us to bear right now and I am sure she feels it.

This is definitely not the right time to transition her to her own bed. "Here darling, at a time when we are the most stressed we are kicking you out of our bed - the place you feel the most loved and safe." Ummmm....not gonna happen.

But after this time passes (and I know it will. Hard times always pass - God gets us through) we will start to get excited about Lizzie's room and Lizzie's bed. She'll want to sleep there someday. If not, I'll just tell her that she can't go to prom until she sleeps in her own bed!

Yuck...what a picture...I should have said 4th grade....

Back to my sanity, if i still have it. Where would I be without my Saviour? I am so thankful to have a husband that is relying on the Lord right now. God is the glue keeping us from ripping each other's eyes out. We pray together and separately lifting each other's struggles to Heaven. God carries us through the turmoil and gives us the precious gift of a baby's laughter to melt away the worries.

As Lizzie sings to me,
"Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow Annie Song!"
Translated:
"Tomorrow, Tomorrow I'll love ya, tomorrow! It's only a day away!"
